My Life Without Air screenings on four festivals in the region

'My Life Without Air' by Bojana Burnać is visiting neighboring country festivals. After regional premiere and an award at the Dokufest in Prizren in the beginning of the month, Bojana presented the film at Makedox in Skopje (Macedonia) in the Newcomers Competition. The film had its official Croatian premiere in the documentary competition at the Vukovar Film Festival where it was screened together with 11 other documentaries from Danube region countries. A tour continues in Bosnia & Herzegovina at the Mediterranean Film Festival in Široki Brijeg and screening on the last day of the 15th Liburnia Film Festival in Opatija, Croatia, in the program 'Films produced by Restart'.

Srbenka wins three awards at Docu Rough Cut Boutique

At the Docu Rough Cut Boutique workshop, which took place within the 23rd Sarajevo Film Festival, Restart's feature documentary "Srbenka" received three out of a total of five awards. The project was presented by director and screenwriter Nebojša Slijepčević, producer Vanja Jambrović and editor Tomislav Stojanović. The project has won the HBO Adria prize in the amount of € 2000, the World Sales CAT & Docs award in the amount of € 2,000 and the prize of Romanian postproduction service Digital Cube, which includes post-production services worth € 20,000. Program mentors were the director of CAT & Docs Catherine Le Clef, commissioning editor of documentary program of HBO Hanka Kastelicova, editor Thomas Ernst, director and producer Noemi Schory, producer Stefano Tealdi, editor Maya Hawke, producer Martichka Bozhilova and festival programmaker Rada Šešić. Docu Rough Cut Boutique is an intense program that focuses on documentary films from South East Europe in the post-production phase. A list of all awarded awards can be found on this link.

My Life Without Air is The Best Balkan Newcomer

In the 15th edition of DokuFest (Prizren, Kosovo, 4. - 12.8.), biggest regional documentary film festival, 'My Life Without Air' by Bojana Burnać won a Best Balkan Newcomer Award. Three members jury, Karen CirilloMimi Brody and Ognjen Glavonić explained it like this: 'We award My Life Without Air for its fresh and original visual approach and striking cinematography. With an assurance not often seen in a debut film, Bojana Burnac trusts her subject and audience and lets the story slowly unfold to reveal the personality and reality of a very private world-record holder.'

Playing Men in the documentary competition of Sarajevo Film Festival

In the documentary competition program of the 23rd Sarajevo Film Festival, Restart's film "Playing Men" directed by Matjaž Ivanišin will be screened. That screening will also be the regional premiere of the film. The film was co-produced as Slovenian-Croatian co-production, and the world premiere was in competition of this year's International Film Festival FIDMarseille where it won the Georges de Beauregard Award. In addition to the screening of the "Playing Men", Restart will also be featured in the program section of the Sarajevo Film Festival with the screening of a short fiction film "Half a Man" by Kristina Kumrić, which will be shown as part of the selection of the best films from the last year's competition of the program "Checkers" at Zagreb Film Festival.

Bride in Search of Happiness won Best Pitch Award at BDC Discoveries

Our new documentary project in development 'Bride in Search of Happiness' by Tea Vidović won The Best Pitch Award at the final pitching of the BDC Discoveries workshop held during the Dokufest in Prizren. We shared an award with Romanian project 'Born in April' by Adrian Pirvu. The project was pitched by the director Vidović and producer Oliver Sertić in front of 12 jury members from USA, Croatia, Romania, Germany, Albania, Bulgaria and Kosovo.

The school of documentary film is taking place in Zagreb once a year and it is conceived as an intensive programme held by international tutors as well as those from Restart. They will be teaching the participants about basic and advanced skills needed to make their own documentary film.
