Jay Weissberg holds a Masterclass in Zagreb

Jay Weissberg, one of the most prominent American film critics will be our guest on the 13th and 14th of December where he will hold public Masterclass and two days workshop for young Croatian film critics. The Masterclass will be held in Kino Europa (hall Muller) with the topic 'How the Western media perceive East European films?' under the moderation of Vladan Petković.
 
Masterclass and workshop are organized in cooperation of RestartDokukino and GoCritic!, a project of the web portal Cineuropa.

Winning streak for School of Documentary FIlm

At 50th Festival of Croatian Filmmaking, the annual event of nonprofessional filmmaking held in Cinema Tuškanac in Zagreb from 23rd to 25th November 2018, four films were awarded from this year's School of Documentary Film, Restart's oldest eduactional programe. The first prize was awarded to three films produced at School of Documentary Film: 'September 3, 2015' by Sara Jurinčić, 'The place I am Writing you Letters from' by Nikolina Bodanović and 'Remiza' by Aron Kovačić. The second prize was also given to the film produced at our School, 'How Tanja Stayed Alone' by Mia Sidorov.

Days of Madness in Belgrade and Sarajevo

'Days of Madness' by Damian Nenadić will have its Serbian premiere on the 27th of November at the 24th Auteur Film Festival in Belgrade as a part of competition program 'Brave Balkan'. The film will be presented by the producer Oliver Sertić, who will hold a Q&A after the screening. Immediately after Belgrade, the film will have Bosnian-Herzegovinian premiere in the program of the 13th Pravo ljudski Film Festival in Sarajevo as part of the program 'Reclaiming the Gaze: The Cinema of the Troubled Mind'. On the same festival, B&H premiere will have 'Home of the Resistance' by Ivan Ramljak.

Srbenka at IDFAs Best of Fests

After a great run of the current festival circuit (DOK LeipzigJi.hlava IDFF and many others) winning more than 10 awards, 'Srbenka' by Nebojša Slijepčević will debut as a Dutch premiere in the Best of Fests program of IDFA - International Documentary Festival Amsterdam. The category annually hosts a selection of best films that were already premiered someplace else but have earned its place amongst the best at IDFA. The film will be hosted by the director Nebojša Slijepčević and the producer Vanja Jambrović. The film is also part of the delegation of the East Silver Caravan at the Docs for Sale market program organized by the Institute of Documentary Film (IDF).

Srbenka wins again in Florence, Budapest and Belgrade!

The 59th edition of Italia's biggest documentary film festival - Festival dei Popoli, held annually in Florence (3-10 Nov 2018), 'Srbenka' by Nebojša Slijepčević won the Lo sguardo dell'altro award. The prize, fully titled The Gaze of the Other: the challenge of dialogue between cultures and religion, and sought by all films in the domestic and international competition, was given to the film by the international jury members: Filipa Reis (Portugal), Stephan Riguet (France) and Biljana Tutorov (Serbia) and awarded by Istituto Sangalli per la Storia e le Culture Religiose of Florence (Sangalli Institute for the History and Religious Cultures of Florence). Meanwhile, in Budapest, 15th edition of International Documentary Human Rights Film Festival Verzio (6-11 Nov 2018) marked another triumph for 'Srbenka' by winning the main prize Best Film Human Right Award, given by the student jury. The end of the week is concluded by Special Jury Mention in the regional competition at the Free Zone Festival Begrade (Serbia).

The school of documentary film is taking place in Zagreb once a year and it is conceived as an intensive programme held by international tutors as well as those from Restart. They will be teaching the participants about basic and advanced skills needed to make their own documentary film.
