"Museum of the Revolution" and "Speak so I can see you" at IDFA Festival

Restart's minority co-production documentary project "Museum of the Revolution", directed by Srđan Keča and produced by Vanja Jambrović, participated in the IDFA Forum from 25 to 28 November 2019 where it was presented as part of a "round table pitch" and the director and producer held about 30 meetings with interested representatives of the documentary film industry. Over 700 documentary projects from around the world have applied for the Forum this year, with 60 of them selected. The IDFA Film Festival, held in Amsterdam from 20th of November until 1st of December 2019 also screened the world premiere of a feature documentary film "Speak so I can see you" directed by Marija Stojnić in the competition category "First Appearance". This film is also Restart's minority co-production and on behalf of Restart, co-producer Tibor Keser participated at the world premiere. The "First Appearance" category shows a total of 12 feature films that have been screened at IDFA for either a world or international premiere.

Last ABC of Film workshops in 2019

Interested in making music in film and want to create your own atmosphere in movie scenes through music? Or are you curious about what optical sound is and how sounds a light bulb, a cell phone screen, or a flash?

Depending on your age, take a look at one of the workshops on offical website. Program is run by the Restart and all workshops are free of charge thanks to the financial support of the Croatian Audiovisual Center and the Croatian Film Directors Association.

Films by Ivan Ramljak in Leipzig and Cottbus

Two films directed by Ivan Ramljak are screened these days at two different east German festivals in Leipzig and Cottbus. Short experimental documentary 'Mezostajun' found its place among 11 titles for Country Focus: Croatia program at the 62th DOK Leipzig curated by Borjana Gaković. A few days after, Film Festival Cottbus in special program dedicated to socialist architecture ('Section: Specials') shows Ramljak's film 'Home of the Resistance' co-produced by Academy of Dramatic Art and Restart.

Currents in Portugal

After the Portuguese premiere at the 3rd edition of the BEAST International Film Festival where the short experimental documentary 'Currents' by Katerina Duda was shown in the EAST DOC program, the film is selected for the short competition in the 6th edition of Olhares do Mediterrâneo - Women's Film Festival. The festival will run from October 30 to November 3 and it will bring 55 films made by women from the Mediterranean area to the Cinema São Jorge in Lisbon.

Festival success of films produced by School of Documentary Film

'Probably Dead' by Ivan Grgur, made as a graduating film at the Restart's School of Documentary Film won its first awards and scored an international presence at various film festivals. At the 6th edition of the Student International Film Festival that happened in the Croatian city of Rijeka, the film received STIFF Audience Award and Special Jury Mention. Internationally, the film was premiered at the Alexandria Mediterraean Countries Film Festival in Egypt and shortly after that had its European premiere in the Panorama Shorts program at the Mediterranean Cinema Festival - CINEMED in Montpellier, France followed by Latin American one at the Brazilian Festival de Cinema de Alter do Chao. Another School film, 'Escape Route' by Lucija Ana Ilijić, had it's International premiere in the competition of DokumentART festival in Neubrandenburg, Germany. Just to note, Rijeka's STIFF competition has been, beside mentioned winner, enriched by two other films: 'Happy Birthday, Mama!' by Bernarda Cenkovčan (generation 2018/2019) and 'The Place I'm Writting you Letters from' by Nikolina Bogdanović (generation 2017/2018).

The school of documentary film

Škola dokumentarnog filma
The school of documentary film is taking place in Zagreb once a year and it is conceived as an intensive programme held by international tutors as well as those from Restart. They will be teaching the participants about basic and advanced skills needed to make their own documentary film.
