Matija and Bojan grew up together. Their friendship ended abruptly when Bojan and his family left the flat where they had been living until then. They left overnight and without a goodbye. It was the beginning of 1990s, and they were ”politically unsuitable”. They had the wrong ethnicity. Matija was too young to understand the war situation and why he lost a friend. 15 years later he decides to search for him.

Đuro Gavran holds a master’s degree in film and TV direction (majoring in documentary film) at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb and in design at the Faculty of Graphics at the University of Zagreb. He is the author of a dozen documentary films and two experimental films. The film Presuda premiered at the film festival in Rotterdam in 2013, after which it was shown at around thirty national and international festivals where it won a number of awards (Sarajevo film festival, Zagrebdox, …). The film 4.7 won the Big Seal in the regional competition at ZagrebDOX in 2016, and the film News from Laayoun won a special award from the Vaclav Havel jury at the prestigious One World human rights festival in Prague in 2017. He is also the author of the award-winning film One of Us. He also signs a number of children’s documentaries as part of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), as well as the documentary TV series Dobra ekonomija. He is the founder of the Pipser production company, lives and works in Zagreb.
