Love Thy Neighbor

About the film

Love Thy Neighbor is a short documentary portrait of a 51 year old man who lives near Sinj in Dalmatian hinterland. It’s also a film about film, or more exactly, about the process of making a documentary film, in which the author and the protagonist fight for control over the story and content. It’s not important who the winner of this battle is, because their joint effort to make a film represents a testimony about our differences and peculiarities. This film shows how the adventure of shooting a film can be utterly unpredictable, and also a great fun.

Darovan Tušek was born in Split in 1981. After graduating from the Faculty of Architecture in Zagreb, he worked in Split and Zagreb as an architect in the offices of “Architectural Bureau Ante Kuzmanić”, “Ivanisin. Kabashi. Architects” and “Kostrenčić-Krebel Architects” on many small and large-scale projects. As an author, he was nominated for the Bernardo Bernardi Award in 2020 for the arrangement of the city waterfront in Poreč. He is currently employed at the Open Architecture Cooperative, and works as a chief designer and author on projects of residential and public architecture and interior design. He also worked as an assistant at the Faculty of Architecture in Split and is the author of articles in the professional magazines Oris and ČIP. In addition to his architectural work, he is also the author of documentaries that were in competition at international film festivals such as ZagrebDox and FMFS in Split.
