In the series of workshops intended for preschool and elementary school age, children will find out how objects in films move, how does the invisible and miraculous side of objects looks under a microscope, how music is created in films and how music creates atmosphere in film scenes. In addition to all this, we create a space for children to ask a bunch of questions about everything that interests them about films and film-making.
Workshops are adapted to the age of the participants: ABC OF FILM FOR BEGINNERS workshop is for children aged 5 to 7, and the MEDIA LABORATORY workshop is for children aged 10 to 12. Workshops will be held at the Multimedia Institute/ club MaMa at Preradovićeva street 18, Zagreb.
For children aged 5 to 7.
Schedule:
Sunday, October 5th (10:00-11:00)
Sunday, October 12th (10:00-11:00)
We will explore the process of creating and shaping music for a film. First, we will become aware of the existence and then the role of music in film. We will listen to the sounds that are all around us, note what we hear and listen to. We will think about the role of sound in film that triggers various emotions in the viewer. We will explore animated film techniques such as stop-motion, create the illusion of movement and little by little turn one object into another, change their various positions and shapes in order to create our own story.
For children aged 10 to 12.
Schedule:
Sunday, October 5 (12:00-13:30)
Sunday, October 12 (12:00-13:30)
By combining various media and technologies (slide projector, overhead projector, CRT TVs, walkman, cassettes, microphone, camera, mixer, various lenses, filters, light box…) we will create a media laboratory in which materials will be created that will help us learn how objects in the film move on their own, and raise awareness of the importance and existence of sound in film. We will listen to the sounds that surround us, record what we hear, listen to and produce. We will combine the produced images and sounds into our own story and tell it through film and an art book.
All workshops are free of charge. Detailed information about the program and application can be found on the official ABC of Film website.
