The 12th edition of the Restart’s School of Documentary Film lasted from October 2022 to April 2023 in Zagreb, and it will be festively closed with a screening of the five films of this generation on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 8 p.m. in Dokukino KIC. You’ll be able to see films by Dora Fodor, Maša Grbac, Matea Jocić, Ana Kanjera and Denis Tišljar. Entrance to the screening is free.
The participants attended an intensive 6-month program where they acquired the skills of making a creative documentary film under the mentorship of Igor Bezinović, Hrvoslava Brkušić, Katerina Duda, Dinka Radonić, Oliver Sertić and Bojan Mrđenović.
Participants also learned about documentary filmmaking from other film professionals: directors Ana Hušman and Nebojša Slijepčević, sound designer Luka Gamulin, sound recordist Matija Santro, producer Vanja Jambrović, Norwegian cinematographer Marte Vold, and Japanese documentary filmmaker Kazuhiro Soda.
School of Documentary Film is based on the idea that filmmaking should be accessible to everyone nowadays and that everyone can express themselves in the language of film. Year after year, the school presents each new generation with the basic and advanced skills needed to make their own documentary film, and has proven to be an important and steady training ground for upcoming filmmakers.
The program is financed by the Croatian Audiovisual Centre, the City of Zagreb, the Croatian Director’s Guild, and the Kultura Nova Foundation.
