Restart’s co-production “The Balkan Cowboy” by Dragana Jurišić will have its world premiere in the documentary competition at the Sarajevo Film Festival. The film was produced by Irish Invisible Thread Films in co-production with Restart and was shot in Bijeljina (Bosnia & Herzegovina), Slavonski Brod (Croatia), and Dublin (Ireland), where the director currently resides. A successful photographer making her directorial debut, travels to Bijeljina, attempting to follow in the footsteps of Hari Džekson (Harry Jackson), a legendary director of amateur western films. Given the city’s wartime history, some wounds inevitably reopen. Alongside Dragana, the core creative team includes producers Zlata Filipović and Anna Rodgers, director of photography Eleanor Bowman, editor Paul Mullen, composer Michael Fleming, sound designers Luka Gamulin and Zoran Medved, sound recordists Luka Mustać and Hrvoje Radnić, and boom operator Nikola Kljaić. The production team from Restart consists of co-producer Oliver Sertić, production manager Zrinka Košar, and associate co-producer Vanja Jambrović. The film’s premiere is scheduled for August 17, 2026, at Cineplexx Sarajevo, with a repeat screening two days later at the same venue. Part of the main festival’s program, out of competition is another Restart’s co-production, “Yugo Goes to America” by Filip Grujić and Aleksa Borković, produced by Serbian company Naked that is on 17th of August starting with a Croatian theatrical distribution and several more festival appereances in the region.
