One on One is a new educational project initiated by Restart and Gallery Miroslav Kraljević. Restart thus continues to implement projects that aim, besides offering new content and enrichment of existing cultural content, to further educate citizens and encourage them to actively participate in cultural life. With our educational projects and programs we want to compensate for the deficiencies in the existing facilities of dominant structures, while Gallery Miroslav Kraljević continues to implement participatory projects aimed at opening the program and activities of the Gallery to a younger audience. The project is being implemented during 2015 in cooperation with X gymnasium "Ivan Supek".
In secondary schools, the fine arts are reduced to a minimum and most of the students are not familiarized with new artistic practices, especially not the domestic contemporary art scene. Although living in a time in which the visual media and communications play a dominant role in their daily lives, their knowledge of visual culture is extremely low, which indirectly leads to a lack of understanding. Detection of high school students as a group which is quite endangered by lack of visual culture and art education in general, we decided to try the workshop format and directly socialize with young artists who will offer them different forms of visual education.
We therefore engaged 10 young artists who will hold public presentations of their work and of themselves to students who are also attending film workshops which will enable them to create documentary film, video, installations… – a portrait of one of the ten participating artists. Students will go through informal meetings with the artists and explore the local art scene, visit museums, galleries, studios and etc… Upon completion of the above mentioned activities, an exhibition of their works will be held in the Gallery.
