Restart invites all interested to apply for the sixth consecutive School of documentary film 2016./2017. which will be led by domestic and foreign mentors and teachers in Zagreb from October 3 to 28 February 2016. 2017. School of documentary film will be held as a five-month intensive program with international and domestic lecturers and mentors who will provide students with basic and advanced skills required to make their own documentary films. The program is based on the idea that today the medium of film is available to everyone – thanks to the prevalence of technology and of knowledge, everyone is able to express themselves in the language of film. This is our main goal: to help students make their own documentaries with what they have. School attendance requires no previous film experience or knowledge about production phases or techniques, only a strong motivation and a desire to continue making documentary films in the future. All interested must have basic computer skills, access to the computer on which they can install editing program and camera (DSLR camera, video camera, cell phone ….).
Unlike the traditional way of teaching film which separated the whole process on separate stages and procedures, in the School of documentary film we approach this as wholesome activity. The entire program is organized as an organic system that teaches students the skills necessary to create documentary films: the basics of shooting, editing, production, directing and dramaturgy, allowing you to become a complete author.
Participants will work during five months on a series of specially designed exercises. After completing the program, Restart Laboratory will produce the most successful ideas with expert assistance and individual mentors.
Regular Restart's mentors are Ana Hušman, Oliver Sertić, Hrvoslava Brkušić, Boris Mitić and Igor Bezinović. Special lectures will be held by cinematographer Dinka Radonić, producer Vanja Jambrović, director Miloš Tomić and sound designer Ivan Zelić.
