The feature-length documentary “Yugo Goes to America”, directed by Filip Grujić and “Yugo Goes to America” and produced as a Serbian-Croatian co-production (with Croatian co-producer Vanja Jambrović of Restart), will make its regional premiere at the 32nd Sarajevo Film Festival following its Croatian premiere at the Pula Film Festival. The film will then begin its nationwide theatrical release across Croatia on August 17th, distributed by Restart Label. After receiving outstanding reviews from industry professionals at the Pula Film Festival, “Yugo Goes to America” was also selected for the Sarajevo Film Festival programme, where it will be screened out of competition as part of the documentary section.
This highly entertaining road documentary follows a group of millennials on a journey from New York to Los Angeles in a car from their childhood—the Yugo. At the same time, it is a nostalgic coming-of-age story and a search for identity, told through the lens of one of the most recognizable industrial symbols of the former Yugoslav region.
Distributed by Restart Label, the film arrives in cinemas across Croatia on August 17th. The theatrical release begins in Dalmatia as part of the Kino Mediteran network, with screenings scheduled for August 17th in Split, August 18th in Supetar on the island of Brač, August 19th in Šibenik, August 20th in Zadar, and then on August 21st, 22nd and 23rd in Hvar and Jelsa on the island of Hvar, and in Bol on the island of Brač. The Zagreb premiere will follow on August 26th on the Tuškanac Summer Stage. Directors Filip Grujić and Aleksa Borković will attend all of the aforementioned screenings.
