Restart’s co-production, the feature-length documentary “The Balkan Cowboy” by Dragana Jurišić, produced by Ireland’s Invisible Thread Films, won the Grand Prix in the feature-length competition at the 27th Mediterranean Film Festival, held in Široki Brijeg (Bosnia and Herzegovina) from September 23 to 26, 2026. The jury, composed of Alena Džebo, Johannes Pause, and Vinko Brešan, awarded the film “for its intricate narrative structure and strong emotional impact. Beginning with self-reflection, the film moves through biography, detective investigation, and a film within the film. These layers gradually come together in a cinematic essay and a powerful cry for justice – a justice whose absence we feel in real life and whose presence we find only in the fiction of the Western.” The festival’s competition featured nine feature-length documentaries produced or co-produced with Mediterranean countries. “The Balkan Cowboy,” following its world premiere in competition at the Sarajevo Film Festival, continued its festival tour with screenings at Cinema Parallels in Pecka near Banja Luka (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Mediterranean Film Festival in Široki Brijeg, and is followed by its Australian premiere in competition at the Adelaide Film Festival from October 14 to 25.
