Restart invites all interested to apply to the fifth edition of School of of documentary film, which will be held by foreign and local tutors in Zagreb from October 2, 2015. to March 26, 2016.
School of documentary film was conceived as a four-month intensive program with international and local tutors who will provide the participants with basic and advanced skills required to make their own documentary.
The program is based on the idea that today the medium of film is available to everyone – thanks to the prevalence of technology and of knowledge, everyone is able to express in the language of film. This is our main goal: to help students make their own documentaries with what they have. To attend you do not need any previous film experience, or knowledge of film production techniques, only a strong motivation and a desire to continue making documentary films in the future.
Unlike the traditional way of teaching film which separated the whole process on separate stages and procedures, in the School of documentary film we approach this as wholesome activity. The entire program is organized as an organic system that teaches students the skills necessary to create documentary films: the basics of shooting, editing, production, directing and dramaturgy, allowing you to become 'a complete author'.
Participants will work during four months on a series of specially designed exercises with the final exercise being a finished short documentary film. After completing the program, Restart Laboratory will produce the most successful ideas with expert assistance and individual mentors.
Regular Restart's tutors are Ana Hušman, Nebojša Slijepčević, Oliver Sertić, Hrvoslava Brkušić and Igor Bezinović. Special lectures (exercises) will be held by cinematographer Dinka Radonić, producer Vanja Jambrović, director Boris Mitić, sound designer and editor Ivan Zelić.
