On Friday, 27th of August, the last day of the 19th Liburnia Film Festival, festival of Croatian documentary film, organised by Association LFF and co-organised by Restart we found out this year’s winners. The jury Branka Benčić, Višnja Vukašinović, Szabolcs Szirony, Marko Grba Singh and Vladimir Gojun decided that the best film of the festival is ‘Factory to the Workers‘ by Srđan Kovačević (Fade In), giving the special mention to ‘White Christmas‘ by Josip Lukić (Academy of Dramatic Arts). The Best Regional Film award went to Toni Jelenić from Rijeka for his film ‘Martin Torpedo‘ (Filmaktiv) while the audience awarded ‘One of Us‘ by Đuro Gavran (Pipser) with high 4,78/5. The best director is Ivan Ramljak (film ‘Once Upon a Youth‘), best cinematographer Andrea Kaštelan (‘Landscape Zero‘), editors Elena Radošević and Josip Lukić (‘White Christmas‘), and sound designer Vjeran Šalamon (‘Landscape Zero‘). Traditionally, Ivana Pipal and Vanja Babić led Restart’s Filmmaking for Beginners workshop for the youngest. Before the award ceremony, the audience could see two films made at Restart’s School of Documentary Film, ‘More than 35’ by Timy Šarec and ‘Letters to Nicholas’ by Dunja Ivezić.
The Best Film and Audience Award are supported with the cash prize of 7000 kunas along with Restart’s technical service of DCP production. The Best Regional Film is supported by the Balkan Documentary Center from Sofia and the Best Director Institute of Documentary Film from Prague. From this year, we are proud to present new award partners, the company Audio Video Consulting – AVC Zagreb supports the Best Cinematographer and the Best Sound Designer and Acer who is supporting the award for Best Editor. At the festival we have screened 44 films out of which 22 in competition. We held several other workshops, daily program Drinks with Authors, Case Study and discussion and for the first time LFF Rough Cut workshop with the editors Jelena Maksimović and Hrvoslava Brkušić.
