“On the Adamant” is a new film by one of the most famous European documentarians, Nicolas Philibert, in which the fragility of mental health is pointed out. Adamant is a unique floating day care center for people with mental disabilities, located on the Seine River in the very center of Paris. The managers of the center resist the dehumanization of psychiatry and offer their patients a combination of therapeutic, educational and cultural activities, as well as an escape from the capitalist dictatorship and chaos of the modern metropolis – a refuge where they can speak, sing, dance or shout freely.
Awarded the Golden Bear, the award for the best film of last year’s edition of the Berlineale Film Festival, this documentary is “cinematic proof of the necessity of human expression” according to actress Kristen Stewart, president of the international jury of the 73rd Berlinale.
The film “On the Adamant” will be released in independent cinemas across Croatia from March 21st, 2024, distributed by Restart Label.
