In Zagreb, the 19th edition of International Festival of Experimental Film and Video 25FPS just ended with the award ceremony. After four festival days and 27 films in the international competition program, the festival jury consisting of Mary Helena Clark, Marko Tadić and Ross Lipman awarded three equal Grand Prix to their favorites, one of which was awarded to Restart’s short experimental documentary film “Valerija” by Sara Jurinčić. “Valerija” was awarded by Ross Lipman with the further explanation: “I’m honored to award a film that begins as a director’s personal elegy for her ancestors, and at the same time touches on the universal connection we all have with our respective pasts. In telling her own story, she touches something deeply embedded in all of us, and shows that in a few short minutes, film is capable of reaching far beyond its brief limits in time.” The film continues its very successful festival tour, so next week it will be screened as part of the Panorama program at notable European festival DokLeipzig, which takes place from 8th to 15th of October in Leipzig, the capital of eastern German region Saxony.
