'Playing Men' by Matjaž Ivanišin, continues to win awards, this time in Montenegro and Brasil! At the 9th UnderhillFest in Podgorica (Montenegro), the international jury awarded the film as the best film in regional competition (Dandelion). At the same time, the film was competing at the Olhar de Cinema '18 – Curitiba Int'l Film Festival, one of the biggest film festivals in Brasil. There it also won the biggest award, the "Prêmio Olhar" in feature-length competition, selected by an international jury, becoming the best film of the festival.
In Podgorica, the international jury consisting of film experts and filmmakers Ivan Salatić, Marko Grba Singh and Miljenka Čogelja awarded the film proclaiming:
"… the film by its collage structure leads the viewer on a poetic journey through the Mediterranean and in a funny and simple way shows many of the games played by men. The film also researches the relationship between tradition and competition, skillfully handling the phrase 'to game / to play / to act', which is sometimes reflected through sport, music but also through acting. This is a shining example of a hybrid piece which erases the lines between documentary and fiction, mixing real life with meta moment".
Olhar de Cinema – Curitiba Int’l Film Festival (Paraná, Brazil) since its inception in 2012 became one of the biggest film festival venues in Brasil, and the 500 films that were shown there were visited by more than 120.000 viewers.
UnderhillFest is focusing on feature-length documentaries that were made in film-wise low-capacity countries or independent productions, but are innovative, smart and powerful.
