Half a Man wins best short fiction film in Valencia

The fifth edition of the "Mostra Viva del Mediterrani" film festival was held from 5th to 15th October in Valencia, Spain. Restart's short feature film "Half a Man" directed by Kristina Kumric at the festival won the Best Short Fiction Film Award. In the international competition of short films at the festival, a total of 15 world shorts were competed, and the jury made by screenwriter and actor Arash Azizi, screenwriter and producer María Carrión and director and screenwriter Alex Montoya decided to award the prize in the amount of € 1,000 for the movie "Half a Man". Awarding this film jury wanted to contribute to the growing body of works that encourages to the human beings to strive to find non-violent alternatives to solve the conflicts.This is also the ninth film festival where "Half a Man" won the prize, and the overall film has so far been shown in the competition of forty film festivals. My Life Without Air at the Zurich FF and Cineast festival Luxemburg

'My Life Without Air' by Bojana Burnać is in the documentary competition of a prestigious 13th edition of Zurich Film Festival (28.9. - 8.10.2017) together with 11 other films from around the world. This would be the premiere for the German language speaking territory and we are glad to confirm that the director will be present at all three festival screenings. The final decision about awards will be given by the jury members Simon KilmurryGabor HorcherHanna Polak and Patrik Soergel. 'My Life' is also accepted to the 10th Cineast - Central and Eastern European Film Festival in Luxemburg, where it will be screened as a part of the program Cinedocs

Playing Men is the best Slovenian documentary film

The 20th Slovenian Film Festival, which was held from the 12th to the 16th of September in Portoroz in Slovenia brought another award for our production company. Restart's co-production, mid-length documentary film "Playing Men", directed by Matjaž Ivanišin won the Vesna Award for the best Slovenian documentary film. This is the fourth festival performance and the third prize for Ivanišin's film. The following confirmed festival screening for "Playing Men" will be in the competition of the 32nd Entrevues Belfort International du Film in France in November this year. An Award to Playing Men in Pančevo and other September festivals

At recently finished the 4th Pančevo Film Festival (Pančevo, Serbia, 4. - 10.9.2017), Restart's co-production 'Playing Men' by Matjaž Ivanišin won a Special Mention in the Feature Competition Lighthouses. The film will have its Slovenian premiere at the Festival of Slovenian Film in Portorož (12. - 16.9.). Another co-production 'My World is Upside Down' by Petra Seliškar was screened at the 6th edition of the International Festival of Documentary Film Dokudoc (Maribor, Slovenia, 6. - 10.9.). 'Islands of Forgotten Cinemas' by Ivan Ramljak is in the competition of the Filmfest Eberswalde in Germany and in the program EastDoc at Beast International Film Festival in Porto (Portugal, 21. - 24.9.). Viva Film Festival (Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina, 13. - 17.9.) will screen 'Ana Square' by Jelena Novaković in the program of films with religious themes. 'All Still Orbit' by Dane Komljen and James Lattimer will be presented at the Lebanese International Biennial for Cinema and the Arts - BLICA in Lebanese capital Beirut.

Winners of the 15th Liburnia Film Festival

The fifteenth edition of Liburnia Film Festival, festival of Croatian documentary films, co-organized by Restart, just finished with an award ceremony at the Summer Stage Opatija. In five days, from 21st till 25th of August, 33 Croatian documentaries were screened, 22 of those in the competition for seven festival awards. The festival hosted four workshops, among others, two organized by RestartFirst Steps in Filmmaking (HR) and our new educational program Think Film (HR). A jury members Jelena MaksimovićEva KraljevićVeton NurkollariVasja Bibič and Igor Bezinović decided about the winners. The Best Film of the 15th LFF is 'Blink' by Jakov Labrović (produced by Room 100), while Special Mention went to 'The Factory is Ours!' by Vedrana Pribačić (Manevar, HRT), that also won the Audience Award (4,69 / 5). The Best Regional Film is short documentary 'Nonna' by Mario Pućić from Rijeka (produced by Dinaridi Film). Goran Dević is the best director ('The Steel Mill Caffe'), Boris Poljak the best cinematographer ('They Just Come and Go'), Dario Bagarić an editor ('Kika'), and Tomislav Domes the best sound designer ('Almost Nothing'). The last day was reserved for films produced by Restart, out of competition, 'My Life Without Air' by Bojana Burnać, co-production 'My World is Upside Down' by Petra Seliškar and two films made in the last Restart's School of Documentary Film, 'All Good Things' by Jasmina Beširević and 'Good Hunting' by Maja Alibegović.

The school of documentary film is taking place in Zagreb once a year and it is conceived as an intensive programme held by international tutors as well as those from Restart. They will be teaching the participants about basic and advanced skills needed to make their own documentary film.
